Hoya cembrae

R. D. Kloppenburg

Published in Fraterna, 1(3), New Philippine Hoya Species, 2 (1990) by R. D. Kloppenburg. Hoya cembrae originates from the Philippines. Hoya cembrae is named in honour of Dale Kloppenburgs daughter, Cembra Kloppenburg.

This species has a rather shrubby growth so if you grow it supported on a trellis it will need some help around. Growing it hanging is not an alternative for me as it would take too much space. The branches grow upright until their own weight make them hang down.

Plant
Leaves: dark green, 8 cm long, 2.5 cm wide
Growth habit: shrubby
Flowers
No. in a cluster: less than 10
Size: 2.5 cm
Colour: white corolla, light green corona
Form: almost flat
Scent: fresh, not very strong
Nectar: no
Lastingness: about 10 days

I got my plant named Hoya odorata, but this species has been published as Hoya cembra in 1990. Since it is named in honour of Cembra Kloppenburg the correct name is Hoya cembrae.
