Hoya 'Christine'

cultivar

This hoya is a hybrid between Hoya subquintuplinervis and Hoya pottsii. It originates from Michael Miyashiros collection. I am not sure if the name is validly published.

I got my cutting from a collector in Thailand in 2008. It had a peduncle and flowered almost immediately after I had rooted it. Then there were only two flowers in the cluster. Now when it flowers for the second time it has many more flowers. The scent is sweet and not to strong and the flowers produce a lot of nectar.

Plant
Leaves: thick, light green, covered with silver flecks
Growth habit: climbing
Flowers
No. in a cluster: ~40
Size: 1.6 cm (measured flat)
Colour: light green corolla, pink corona
Form: reflexed
Scent: yes
Nectar: yes
Lastingness: ~10 days

The leaves are quite thick and the growth is climbing, almost shrubby. In time it will probably need a steady support as I guess it will be a quite heavy plant. Still, mine is a small plant and it does not grow very fast. It tolerates drought and can be grown in a sunny window without getting burned.
