Hoya dickasoniana

P. T. Li

Published in Journal of South China Agricultural University 15(2):74 (1994) by P. T. Li. Hoya dickasoniana originates from Myanmar.

I got my plant named Hoya weebella a few years ago. It is synonymous with Hoya dickasoniana. Since Hoya dickasoniana was published first that name has precedence.

This is definitely a hoya for the hanging basket. It has no climbing abilities what so ever. It isn't the most easy hoya to grow, but when you figure it out it blooms with countless of flowers. The flowers

Plant
Leaves: dark green, 1.5 cm long, 0.6 cm wide
Growth habit: hanging
Flowers
No. in a cluster: 7
Size: 1.9 cm
Colour: white corolla, pink corona
Form: flat
Scent: weak
Nectar: no
Lastingness: ~10 days

remind very much of Hoya lanceolata (and its subspecies) and like Hoya lanceolata the peduncles drop after the flowers have withered.  There are always seven flowers in each cluster. The leaves are either two or three in each node.

Since this is a cold growing species I grow my plant in my garden room where especially night temperatures are lower than indoors. The plant thrives there and has bloomed with countless flowers this year (2008).
