Hoya finlaysonii

Published in Contributions to the Botany of India 38 (1834) by Robert Wight. Hoya finlaysonii originates from Penang in Malaysia. It was collected by Nathaniel Wallich and George Finlayson. Hoya finlaysonii is named for one of the collectors.

Hoya finlaysonii can be grown only for the spectacular leaves. They are light green with dark green veins making a beautiful pattern. The leaves are thick and very hard. If kept on the dry side the leaves are smaller and thicker. It

tolerates direct sunlight and drought. Unfortunately the flowers do not last very long, only 3-4 days. The flowers produce a lot of nectar and the scent is not very strong and very pleasant.
