Hoya flagellata (TN99-024)

A. F. G Kerr

Published in Hooker's Icones Plantarum 35, tab. 3407 (1940) by A. F. G. Kerr. It originates from Thailand and was collected by Kerr at the edge of an mangrove forest on the island Terutao.

In The Malayan Nature Journal 30 (3/4) 467-522 (1978) E. Rintz stated Hoya flagellata is synonymous with Hoya caudata. Already in the original publication of Hoya flagellata Kerr stated that these two species are similar. I agree with Kerr on this one and will keep the name Hoya flagellata on my plant.

Hoya flagellata (TN99-024) was collected on Mt. Jearai in 1999, by T. Nyhuus, E. Gilding and T. Green. David Liddle had this clone in his collection as well. He gave it the number IML1681.

My plant is still very small. It even got in bloom before I had time to plant it. It is typical for this species, flowering at a very early age.
