Hoya lacunosa (IML1039)

(C. L. Blume) C. L. Blume

Published in Bijdragen tot de Flora van Nederlandsch Indië 1063 (1826) by C. L. Blume. Hoya lacunosa originates from Indonesia and Malaysia.

Hoya lacunosa IML1039 was collected in Bogor, Java, Indonesia. It's a very nice clone of Hoya lacunosa. The flowers of this Hoya lacunosa have some more yellow/green coloured coronas. The leaves also differ from the Hoya lacunosa var. lacunosa as the petioles are very long (3 cm). This makes the leaves hang

down and the plant doesn't look sprawling as other Hoya lacunosa sometimes do.

I bought my cutting from David Liddle (IML 1039) in july 2006 and, a year after, it has become a quite large plant. So, it's a fast grower and it also flowers readily. You can put it in almost any window and it will thrive there. Just make sure it is not exposed to full sun if placed in south.

This is a hoya best suited for the hanging basket although it has climbing abilities. A few cuttings in the basket makes a nice looking plant. It tolerates drought, but is growing and flowering much better if it doesn't dry completely between waterings.
