Hoya lacunosa 'Tove'

cultivar

Hoya lacunosa 'Tove' is a cultivar form of Hoya lacunosa which originates from the Danish nursery "Bystrup Planter". It is named after Tove Bystrup.

In my experience Hoya lacunosa 'Tove' requires a lot of light to develop pink flowers. When in bloom in winter or in a shaded window the flowers are white as on any other Hoya lacunosa (see picture below).

New growth (stems/leaves) is often maroon coloured

Plant
Leaves: moss green, 5 cm long, 2 cm wide, some silver flecks
Growth habit: hanging/climbing
Flowers
No. in a cluster: 20-25
Size: 5 mm (10 mm measured flat)
Colour: white or pink corolla and yellow corona
Form: revolute
Scent: like perfume
Nectar: some
Lastingness: about a week

when exposed to sunlight. The leaves are a bit smaller than on my other varieties of Hoya lacunosa. Hoya lacunosa 'Tove' is as easy to grow as any of the other lacunosas and it doesn't require a lot of attention.

When it is in bloom you'll know it from the lovely perfumish scent it spreads in the room. I think this species is well worth growing, especially if you have a space where it can get exposed to some sunlight. Then you'll get those nice pink coloured flowers.
