Hoya 'Minibelle' (splotched leaves) |
cultivar |
Hoya 'Minibelle' is most likely a cross between Hoya carnosa and Hoya shepherdii. The foliage reminds more of Hoya shepherdii than of Hoya carnosa. The hybridizer, Ed Hummel, named this cultivar for his wife, Minibelle Hummel. This form of Hoya 'Minibelle' is special because of the leaves which are completely covered with silver. I do not know much about its origin. It could be a sport or a seedling. |

I grow this one in a hanging basket, but since it is a climber it would do well supported on a trellis. Both Hoya carnosa and Hoya shepherdii prefers cooler growing conditions so I grow my Hoya 'Minibelle' (splotched leaves) in my garden room where especially the night temperature is lower. Below, to the right, is a picture of the pollinarium which measures 0.75 mm. |
