Hoya multiflora (SV406)

C. L. Blume

Published in Catalogus van eenige der Merkwaardigste Zoo in- als Uit-heemse Gewassen, te Vinden in's Lands Plantentuin te Buitenzorg 49 (1823) by C. L. Blume. Hoya multiflora originates from Malaysia and the Philippines.

This Hoya multiflora (SV406) is probably not a Hoya multiflora, but until it's correctly identified I will keep the name it had when I bought it. Research is ongoing and I'm not sure whether this one should be namned Hoya javanica or something else. No matter what; it's a very

Plant

nice hoya. It's the most colourful Hoya multiflora I have seen and the flowers are long lasting, about four weeks!

It doesn't produce nectar in the same amount as my Hoya multiflora (white edges), which is nice because I don't have to clean up a mess everytime it flowers.

I recommend this one for the beginner as it is easy to grow and it is easy to get in bloom. I have mine in a selfwatering pot so I don't have to water it every once in a while. The plant doesn't require so much light, which makes it perfect for a northern or a shaded window.

This clone has been collected in the wild by Arne and Margit Kastberg. SV is the abbreviation for Stenåsa Varberg.
