Hoya pachyclada

A. F. Kerr

Published in Bulletin of Miscellaneous Information 462 (1939) by A. F. Kerr. Hoya pachyclada originates from Thailand. The name pachyclada means thick branch.

Hoya pachyclada is an easy hoya to grow. It's a succulent hoya which prefers to be kept on the dry side, so this species can be grown in full sunlight. The leaves are almost round and slightly pubescent. The leaf colour is light green and if grown in sunlight the leaf margins turn red.

Colour: light green corolla, white corona
Form: reflexed
Scent: reminds of citrus

Hoya pachyclada isn't a good climber so it will need some help around if grown supported on a trellis. Its growth is very compact and since it is so succulent the plant gets very heavy. I prefer to have my plant in a hanging basket. It isn't the fastest grower but will in time take a lot of space.

Hoya pachyclada flowers readily, often already as a cutting. The flowers have a nice, fresh scent which reminds of citrus.
