Hoya padangensis is sometimes sold as Hoya uncinata. As Hoya uncinata was published first (Teijsm. & Binn., Tijdschr. Nederl. Ind. 35 (1863) 408) it should be the correct name, but I've learned that a reference to a herbarium sheet is missing making that publication invalid. Hoya padangensis is named after the place where it was found; Padang Pandjang on Sumatra, Indonesia. The foliage is quite nice with its mother-of-pearl shimmering leaves. species. It is quite easy to grow, but probably needs some time before it flowers. I've had my plant since January 2006, but I still haven't managed to get it in bloom. The pictures of the flowers above I took from a friends plant. |
