Hoya paziae GPS10032

R. D. Kloppenburg

Published in Fraterna, 1(3), New Philippine Hoya Species, 6 (1990) by R. D. Kloppenburg. Hoya paziae originates from the Philippines. Hoya paziae is named for peace. It is also named in honour of Dale Kloppenburgs wife, Paz Kloppenburg.

Hoya paziae reminds very much of Hoya cembrae. Some say this species might be a hybrid between Hoya cembrae and Hoya schneei, but it is not certain so I'll keep the name Hoya paziae on my plant.

Hoya paziae
has a shrubby growth. The branches grow upwards until their weight make them hang down. I grow my plant supported by a trellis but it needs help around since it doesn't twine at all. I guess it would be best suited for the hanging basket. The leaves are dark green but new growth has a reddish tint. It flowers in a window facing north and seems to require a lot of water. As long as the soil is kept moist the plant flowers almost all year. It doesn´t seem to be tricky to grow so I would recommend it for the beginner.
