Hoya scortechinii

King & Gamble

Published in the Journal of the Asiatic Society of Bengal, part 2, Natural History 567-568 (1910) by G. King and J. S. Gamble. Hoya scortechinii originates from the Peninsular Malaysia. It is named for its collector Benedetto Scortechini.

Hoya scortechinii is a nice species which is easy to grow. I have my plant in a hanging basket, but it is a climber so it would also do well supported by a trellis. I grow my plant in my garden room where especially night temperatures are cooler than indoors. It is a few-flowered species and I have

not felt any scent or seen any nectar on the flowers. Now that it has finally decided to bloom it seems to bloom often. The branches are slender and they break easily. Also the peduncles are very thing and long, up to 9 cm.
