Hoya wayetii

R. D. Kloppenburg

Published in Fraterna 1993(2):10 (1993) by R. D. Kloppenburg. Hoya wayetii originates from the Philippines. It was collected from Baguio area, Benguet Provence, Luzon, Philippines. It is named for its collector Maximo K. Wayet.

I have had my Hoya wayetii for some years and I must say it is not the best bloomer. Through the years it has only got in bloom once! In march 2009 I restarted my plant and now I hope it will be a better bloomer in the future.

Plant

Compared to Hoya kentiana, which Hoya wayetii is often confused with, this one is larger in all measures. The leaves are longer, wider and thicker. Also the flowers are larger.
